A Study on the Difference in Employees’ Perception towards AI-Based Decision-Making with Reference to Work Experience

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming part of organisational decision making, especially in areas where speed, consistency and data based judgement are important. However, employees may not respond to such systems in the same way, as their work experience can shape their comfort, trust and acceptance of AI supported decisions. The present study examines whether employees with different levels of work experience differ in their perception towards AI based decision making in business organisations. A quantitative approach was followed, and employees’ perception was measured through a structured questionnaire containing 12 Likert scale statements. The study covered 212 employees divided into three work experience groups: less than 5 years, 5 to 10 years and more than 10 years. Reliability analysis showed good internal consistency for the perception scale, with Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.885. Descriptive results showed that employees with less work experience had a higher perception score than those with longer work experience. One Way ANOVA further confirmed a significant difference across the three groups, F(2, 209) = 10.36, p < .001. The study suggests that organisations should consider work experience while introducing AI based decision making systems, especially through training, transparency and human supervision.
